LTTA 2
On 3-5 November 2021, the Spotlighters team held its second LTTA, an in-person training hosted by Pompeu Fabra University.
Educators from Denmark, Finland, Greece, Spain and Portugal were welcomed by our team of international experts in the field of neuroscience, and enrolled in 2 workshops based on the Spotlighters materials, from a professional development point of view. Resources such as the ClassMood App, the Spotlighters OpenEdX MOOC, and student lesson materials were introduced and worked upon through collaborative work.
The participants learned about the science of stress and self-regulation, with a particular focus on the importance of lifestyle on stress.

LTTA 1
The Spotlighters first Learning, Teaching and Training Activity was held online, between 24.10.2021 and 4.10.2021, and included synchronous and asynchronous work.
|
A total of 17 educators from all the consortium’s countries (Denmark, Finland, Greece, Portugal, and Spain) were committed to exploring the materials developed by the Spotlighters’ team in the scope of the Massive Open Online Course “The Science of Stress & Self-Regulation”. Among this group of educators, there were pre-school, elementary and secondary school teachers, educational psychologists, higher education professors and researchers (PhD students), which created a rich environment for different visions, feedback and reflection about ways to improve the working material. |
Here are some more examples of the participants’ feedback about this training experience:
“I really liked the interaction we had during the sessions. Regarding the material, I found the managing stress techniques really useful.”
“The strong [points] were the opinions and knowledge of the members of Spotlighters.”
“It was nice to hear the discussions based on material activities that were covered in a previous asynchronous session. The asynchronous activities were not time consuming, and I could fit them in my schedule. I believe this structure allows for smaller sessions and it works well.”

Why teach the Science of Stress and Self-regulation?
The Science of Stress by Minna Huoyilainen In this video, you will learn about mechanisms to determine stress, the fight or flight response, and that we can learn skills that help us regulate our levels of stress. |
The Science of Stress and Self-Regulation by Eveliina Holmgren In this video, you will access knowledge about the process of self-regulation, that help us guide our internal states, our emotions, thoughts, moods and also our behaviours. |
