Why
- Students experience stress but most are not taught how to manage their stress effectively and their poor self-regulatory behaviours persist into adulthood affecting quality of life and contributions to society (Boin et al. 2010)
- Mismatches between our biological stress response system and modern triggers of stress contribute to increasing incidences of chronic stress which can lead to mental and physical health complications, such as depression and increased vulnerability to sickness (Tost et al. 2015)
- The most vulnerable populations are the most likely to suffer the negative consequences from stress – due to higher incidences of chronic stress
- Excessive stress combined with poor stress management affects students and teachers at all levels of education
